Has anyone seen (or, better yet, have a picture of) a Courthouse Steps made with scraps? (I don't mean each block a different scrap, but different scraps within each block). Does it look odd? Good? Bad?

You can go totally scrappy, or place lights on one side and darks on the other half, or use a common center piece and scraps around it. It all depends on the look that pleases you :D:D:D

I made one of tans, cream, lt brown, little lt green, little lt pink. Each step is a different fabric. I love it. It is a throw for my living room/tv room. It is string tied and was my first real quilt. Wash a jillion times.

Court House Steps is very similiar to Log cabin.. which are fabulous scrap quilts.. I would think the scrappy look would be just as nice in the Court House Steps.

I did the Courthouse Steps within a certain blend of fabrics but it would work well as a scrappy

Courthouse Steps makes a beautiful scrappy quilt. I've seen photos but it's been a while. In the photo I saw, the centermost square of every block had the same fabric. I imagine that you could do it that way or however you'd want.

In Courthouse Steps, each block has at least two fabrics in addition to, in my case, a consistent center. I used four fabrics in each of the paper pieced blocks, in these quilts, that I made nearly fifteen years ago. Seeing them now makes me what to do a new one.
