Do be sure and share when you find a source for the pattern! I have a drawer full of snippets of trims and laces, etc. that I've saved over the years and this is the perfect use for them!

These are adorable! Can't wait to hear more history - sure hope you find some!

I have seen some blocks like that but instead of all pieced they actually cut baby clothes in half and appliqued them onto the backing fabric . I think bandanna fabric with those would look really good if you are going to do the square dancing theme.

Been searching the internet in my spare time, and found this today:

Not the same, but similar and cute, too!

Has anyone thought of sending these photos to Eleanor Burns to see what she can tell us about these blocks? She would have access to and know other quilters or people who are quilt historians as well as those who judge shows and might have seen quilts made like this. I would value her input on this subject.

I have sent these photos to older friends in various parts of the country in an effort to see if anyone knows when or how these were made. Everyone needs to pitch in and help locate some history about this particular style of quilt blocks. They are unique, and might have been one person's idea. What a talent that person possessed.

    SO COOL.

Have you tried googling any of the names signed on the blocks, or doing a search on face book?
