    Default Side Kick Ruler

I just purchased the Side Kick Ruler and a pattern from Little Jaybird Quilts called "Rock Candy." The pattern I had seen at other online retailers, but ultimately purchased from Fat Quarter as they had the best price on the pattern and the ruler. The pattern is beautiful, at least I think it is, and the ruler will make cutting the many triangle that make up the table topper so much easier. You don't have to have the ruler to make the pattern, but as the designer of the pattern noted it will make cutting much easier. Take a look on the Fat Quarter site and see how gorgeous the pattern is and then decide if you want to spend the extra for the ruler. I'm tickled with the purchase and the pattern that will be made many times with just changing the colorway can become a completely different looking topper.

I bought the ruler and made my first topper with it.

Really pleased. Fast and easy project!

Julie Herman of Jaybird Quilts is a great young designer. I like all her patterns. I have the Sidekick and Hex and More ruler.

With the "Rock Candy" pattern it looks like you are dealing with "Y" seams, or is there a way to piece this without having to deal with "Y" seams?

    There are no "Y" seams...it uses a partial seam,though.

I made this Night Sky quilt with the Side Kick ruler, so keep in mind that you can use the ruler for more than one project.
