Here are a few things I have made in the last couple of years. The Mittens if done one at a time would be good or the snowglobes might be an hour project, if you are not counting the binding.

These are so cute but check out the hexagon boxes - the link is at the bottom of the instructions for the fabric boxes. I can't wait to make some of these!

I have taken the fabric box idea a step further. I make a 15 inch square, zig zag a circle in the center, sew up about 4 inches along each corner, fold the corners up sew with a button, or sew them in so it is flush across the bottom, then cut a hole in the top just inside the zigzag and put over a tissue box. Easy to do and very useful. My friends and family love them. Decorates the tissue boxes for every room!

Through the years, I have found good patterns for ornamements and decorations in both Simplicity and McCalls. I have one set that I have had for almost 50 years and plan to make a few more of them this year for my adult children. One year my oldest son, who was in high school, walked through after the decorations were up. He stopped, walked back through and said "Where is Mary and the widdle kid?" I had made Mary and Joseph out of crimson corduroy and hand stitched the baby jesus in white felt with some gold thread for curls, then put him in Mary's arms.. This was the first year I had not put it out. For me, these patterns were a lot of hand stitching, and I would never part with the patterns.
