Default Thread Colour For Hand Quilting

I'm ready to hand quilt two more quilts I've just basted. Last time I used multiple thread colours depending on the fabric I was quilting on. I'm wondering if that's the way to go? Or shall I rather decide on one colour for the whole quilt? (or better maybe two - one beige/neutral for the background and one for the designs?). Thanks to all help from you experienced quilters!

I use either all white or all cream when I hand quilt depending on the fabrics. Good luck!

I almost always go with a cream color for the thread, no matter what the fabric.

I use one color, most of the time cream, but I used blue on one quilt with a blue background fabric. One reason I stick with one color is how it looks on the back. I don't think there are any hard and fast rules. The quilt often dictates what is best.

I use all kinds of colors in the same quilt...sometimes. it really depends on the quilt. I've even used variegated colored thread. Right now I'm using pink only. I did one with many different colors as I was quilting roses and I wanted them all different colors. I'm sure whatever you decide will be perfect for YOUR quilt.

That was one of the issues I'm considering... One of the two quilts has a cream backing where you'd really see EVERYTHING...

I have a NY Beauty similar to yours that I haven't figured out what to do with yet! Plus all those seams! Both quilts are very well done, btw. Not sure which way I'd go with either of these quilts with respect to thread colors.
