Thank you for the heads up Jan. I am currently making the 2nd of 8 baby quilts. I do try and clip all loose threads, when I press my quilt blocks. Lee

Rag quilts can also do this and I cringe whenever I hear people making and giving rag quilts to babies.

My dear friend's granddaughter ended up in the ER when a hair wrapped around one of her tiny toes. She was in footed pjs at the time and they couldn't figure out why she was screaming. The ER staff managed to get it off and she is fine now.

I tried using a spool of invisible thread for applique until I saw how thin it was. Realizing it could be a danger to my little dog I stopped using it, threw it away and finished the applique with regular 50 WT thread.

Great info. I will share this at our next guild meeting. Thanks so much.

A few months ago I did quilt a baby quilt with invisible thread, found out this tidbit after the fact and here it sits. Kind of worthless now. I did use a 2.5 stitch length(my piecing stitch), still won't even donate it to the ARL. Maybe there will be a day I rip it all out--what a pain to rip out invisible thread. Ugh!

I have heard and know of numerous incidences where a hair has threatened circulation, especially on the toes, as one sees more of the hands at all times, but often the toes are hidden from site. Very dangerous situation. Never thought about invisible thread though. Haven't used it on baby quilts.

How so? The seams are clipped every 1/4"-1/2". Please explain it to me. My BFF is thinking about making a rag quilt for a friend's baby and I am her mentor.
