    Default Unicorn quilt update

    Hi all,
I posted a while back with pictures of my daughter's unicorn and castle quilt. Well I finally bought a used Bernina 750 which I absolutely love, so I could finally attempt quilting my larger quilts myself. You all gave me great advice on how to quilt the top when I posted before. I originally planned on echo quilting each applique a few times, then filling in the background with different themes for each block. I tried that and thought it looked too busy. Then I just kept echoing a few and really love the way it looks. The castle block is done (I think), the unicorn block needs to be filled in some more. I wanted to post a few pictures to see what all of you thought. My echo skills do need some work....

That looks fantastic! I could see a little more echoing to the right of the butterfly, closing the space between the unicorn and the butterfly (like you did with the triangular area in the castle block) and maybe some more echoing in the two lower corners, or you could add a motif (like the quilted cloud you added to the castle block). Or you could fill it in completely with echoes. Either way, I think it will be beautiful.

Thanks so much! I did the cloud motif in silver metallic thread and am thinking if I want to add another cloud layer in there. All the appliques are done in metallic thread. I think I might add a motif to most or all of the blocks in metallic. I just put a metallic heart on a pink unicorn block and echoed once and it looks nice. A few of the blocks have butterflies, so I may do a butterfly motif quilted in metallic in those. Playing around is fun, but ripping out seams is not! :-)
