    I bought a flag quilt. When I did need to wash it, the colors ran.

    I wondered the same thing too. I like the crispness of not prewashing and having the material ready to go but worry about ruining the quilt when it gets washed. How do you wash the fabric so it doesn't fray?

    I wash fabric with detergent and put in the dryer with no fabric sheet. I like to remove all the chemicals before using and it takes care of shrinking if that's going to happen.

    I wash all fabrics in the washing machine with detergent and put it right into the dryer on high heat.
