I also sew all of the misc. pieces of binding together and use on scrap quilts. Makes the whole quilt scrappy.

I roll my left over bindings over an old toilet paper holder and save it in case it will be perfect for small projects. Doesn't happen often but it has happened.

I recently gave a little bag of it to my niece for doll clothes straps, belts or whatever. She is just learning to sew and I remembered how much I enjoyed using those mystery packages for wright's tapes when I was a kid. Remember you could send four binding wrapping papers and a quarter and they would send you a package of odds and ends. I know I am aging myself.... LOL!

I also cut my bindings at 21/4" so I have 2 uses for them (1) scrappy bindings (2) sew them together always using a bias seam wrap them on stiff cardboard and store. I plan to use them for a scrappy quilt one day but in the meantime they are all neat and tidy. Oh and I have become very disciplined as soon as a quilt is finished the leftover binding in sewn into the stash no thought goes into colour matching or style!!! To me that is a true SCRAPPY .

I use leftover binding for scrappy quilt bindings. I have also cut it to other size strips.
I cut my bindings at 2-1/2" so they can also be used with my other 2-1/2" strips, I cut my own and don't buy jelly rolls.

I've been using the faux piped binding almost exclusively for the last couple of years, so my binding is 2 pieces (1.5" sewn to 1.25"). I often use them for placemats, but i'm also not against a scrappy binding.

How about cutting them apart and making piano borders?

I iron it flat and it goes in the scrap bin. I try not to have more than 10 inches left.

Save them until you have enough to cut into pieces to stitch together for a piano key border on a future quilt.
