I'm working on my first split rail and it is going together quickly.

Disappearing 9-patch because the fabric is the key. Fast, easy, impressive. What's the tossed 9-patch? never heard of it.

Default Easy & Fun baby quilt or wall hanging.

The young new mommy's that I've made this quilt for really like it! It's quick to go together, and you can add more if you want. My first one had the baby's first initial in a big applique circle, which was cute, but this baby hasn't been named, and was for a shower. I made it in the colors the nursery is decorated in. The original pattern is called Wall Flower, but I just improvise with the fabrics I choose, and add the cute big flower. A strip or two of the BIG ricrack across a seam or two is also very cute, hand stitched on. It's "non traditional"...and can easily be made to match the nursery. Whitney at TaDa Art studio performs her majic of quilting to make it extra special!

My go to fast pattern is BQ2. It uses one large square and several strip pieces. I can whip one out in nothing flat.

HuskerQuilter - I love this! It will definitely go on my list of to-do's.
To the original question, I'm currently obsessed with the Bento Box (my avatar) I can whip the top up in one day (48" x 48", strips cut to 2.5"). It's a lot of fun and looks great not only in the bright colors that I prefer, but I just finished one in pink/green chintz.

This is just a split nine patch I believe. Here is a link for it. Very easy. it even looks good starting with big 10 blocks.
