    Default White appliqué

I’m doing some needle turn white daisies on a dark background. I’ve read a tip that said to put woven interfacing on the inside so the seam allowance doesn’t show through.Should I prewash that interfacing? Also would steam a seam lite be ok to hold it in place on the appliqué pieces or will it be too stiff and heavy?
    thank you for any info.

I don't think you would want to use a fusible if you are doing needle turn appliqué. If you don't have a woven interfacing handy, you can also use double fabric, but it does make it a little bulkier to turn and hand quilt.

You might try a lightweight white fusible interfacing . The interfacing gives a nice edge to turn back the raw edge along and it should help with the shadowing. I use a really sharp John James needle to stitch the edge with. It does make the appliqués a little stiffer but I find it also keeps bigger pieces from wrinkling.

I agree with both the above posters. I would either use the lightweight fusible as Tartan suggested, or two pieces of white fabric (which I've done myself) as thimblebug suggested.

Another option: after you are done stitching, cut away the dark background behind the daisy petals and use a white batting. Yet another option: trapunto!
