Practice lots and lots before you start on a quilt. Good luck and don't be too hard or critical. Wash and dry it when all finished and it will look great.

I have been FMQ for several years and found it was much easier once I got a table that my sewing machine sat down in so was level with the table also try lowering an ironing board on the left hand side of the table to hold some of the weight and then set high enough that you are not reaching up anyway all of this really did help me

I will be doing my own, I did some on the March doll quilt, and it was not very good. so yes please give some pointers. Penny
