I love, love, love to PP!! There are soo many places to get free patterns. PP is all I do & have a file cabinet drawer full of patterns (I have ceased from making anymore..) When I find a traditional block I like I try to figure out how to PP & make my own master.
Luv2qlt: gorgeous quilt! My son is also an Eagle Scout (he's now 47) has helped other troups & got to go to Philmont 2x (even got to drive Scout Masters RV). My DD's 2 sons (my only DGSs) both made Eagles while living in China for 4 yrs (just got back to Texas this past May). DGS #1 & DGS #2 made it while in China. Soooo proud of them!!
You know about only 1 in 100 that start out, make an Eagle?
My avatar is of my 7 DGKs....

    Thumbs up

I like paper piecing but I am definitely a beginner still. There were several swap on the board and I was able to participate. It was a lot of fun. Here are some pictures of the swap.

For me, paper piecing is like flying coach - a really unpleasant experience that I do for the reward at the end.

This is quite a site. The birds and flowers are so detailed. They are the ones I have looked at so far. TFS

Anna those blocks are all very cute. The only paper piecing I've done was the Swirly Twirly Dresden that came out a few years ago. I had a lot of fun making a quilt with that pattern. Here's my test block-

    And here's the quilt-

I used a FQ pack to make the Dresden blocks and ran out of fabric so for two of the blocks I just winged it with what was left of the scraps.

The first paper pieced quilt block I made was called attic window. Remember if you are printing these yourself, you need to make sure that you mirror the image. You need to do this because the block will be reversed if the pattern hasn't been mirrored.

Ube, lovely little mini! I am quite taken with pp at the moment, having used a book to teach myself over the winter. I am enjoying patterns from Deb Karasik, Karen Neary etc. that feature variations on the NYB. Here is a major piece that is ready for sewing together...after this pic was taken I was able to get about 1/4 of the blocks sewn together. Expect to finish that part this week and add large setting triangles to make it a square (about 50").

Any tips??
Thanks and I'd love to chat about pping.
