Love the pattern. I think your colors will be fine. Anxious to see finished.

Personally, I do not care for plain white with batiks (maybe for a baby, but not a large quilt). There are some lovely barely colorwashed batiks available. I'd find one of them to use for the background to keep the quilt more like the original. There's too much work in that one to have it all blend together and not see the pattern.

When I look at the black and white image of your fabrics, I see medium lights and mediums. I echo the concern about there not being enough contrast.

Have you thought about using medium dark through dark purple and blue fabrics to get a little higher level of contrast to effectively show off the pattern? Contrast doesn't have to be as stark as black and white. Most of my quilts have a medium level of contrast, going from medium light to medium dark. I rarely use whites or very darks.

By the way, your batiks are gorgeous and I do so wish that you share your creative journey with us.

The fabrics are lovely, but it seems you need more contrast between the dark and the light values. The pattern is so dramatic, you don't want it to get lost with fabric that is too close in value, even though it's very pretty and coordinates well.

I have made Shakespear in the park, I don't think there is enough contrast between the blue and purple. you need a main color that is either much much lighter, or much much darker. Using both in the design part would be pretty, but not as a background. they do make some pretty batik blacks which might work as a background,

This is what I think as well. Your fabrics are beautiful but there isn't much contrast.

What if you go for a really dark purple or blue batik for the contrast? That would keep it in the "family," but give contrast.

Yummiest fabrics but I agree with others that maybe not enough contrast.
