    Need to make 3 throws before Christmas!! I thought I was all done and feeling smug then daughter told me boyfriend and his two sons have hurt feelings because I didn't make anything for them!! Got material was thinking warm wishes but don't know what size to cut strips and focus square. Cab anyone tell me? Thanks in advance!

    I don't know that pattern, but you could do coin strips, where you alternate a vertical band of multi-fabric bars with a band of a single fabric. Divide your size by 5 (or 7) for the width of each band; add 1/2" seam allowance to the single fabric bands and 1" to the pieced bands (to allow for trimming.)

    I used 2.5" strips sewn together in threes, then cut into 6.5" squares. The focus fabric is cut to the same 6.5" square. Hope this helps!

    I would just do patchwork squares (big ones), or better yet, a brick pattern where you don't have to line up seams.

    I just made one. The large square was 6" and the 3 strips were 2" 3" and 2" although I started cutting the 2" strips 2 1/2" and then squaring them up because I wasn't coming out with a 6" block. Here is a pic of the one I made.

    I actually did a search for warm wishes and yours was one that I looked out. It looks really nice!
