    You may want to search The Henry Ford's Quilt Index to see what others have done in the past. Every yo-yo quilt I have seen does NOT have a backing. However, I think a backing would make it more durable.

    I am very impressed by Yo-Yo quilts. I would never have the patience to make a whole quilt out of them.
