I have the last little bit of a cough hanging on from being sick myself. It's that time of year! Take care of you. The swap can wait until after Christmas. Rest up and enjoy the holidays.

I used this tutorial - it's a "magic" binding that creates a contrast flange.

I'm totally sold on the technique. I HATE hand binding, especially for gifts because I always worry that the quilt will get the binding torn or something.

Who gave me their germs? I got to sleep wonderful wonderful sleep last night, after I finished my math final, and woke up feeling like crap. felt better during my workout but then the minute I stopped, back to feeling like crap. I'm soooooooo glad I'm back to my normal shift again. Morning shift is completely detrimental to my health.

OOPS, I mailed my table runner on Thursday but forgot to get a DC. I mailed it from home and was not thinking clearly. If I do not hear anything in a week or so I will mail another and will have learned to slow down and think. What a concept!!!!

MamaHauser, I have used that binding several times and like it too! I've never machine sewn it though, always hand sew the binding. Have you ever used this on a circular pattern or just a square edged quilt or runner?

Binding is my worst part of quilting. If I could find someone near me who was really good at it and loved it, who had some other part they weren't as good at that we could trade out, I'd be turning quilted things out like crazy.

I am not great at binding but its relaxing. It was keeping me busy in dialysis kinda stuck there so binding was an easy hand toy. I like that binding too going to check out your video and see if its something I could do. always nice to learn something new

so many of you are sooo fast! I have one down one to go but still stuck on this quilt job. I have to get this cup of coffee into me before I continue. I need five cups but that aint going to happen.. For the record: I only take rejection medications which alas do not hyper me up. I am CRAZY ALL BY MYSELF who needs meds??? I either am thrilled I have lots of energy or ..pooped out. Not much medium. so next time you think I am whacked..well its just me not the caffeine. ok stalled enough time to get back to that machine. Finish it and I canmake that second tablerunner. I have pulled my fabrics for it. kick my butt in gear would you guys?
oh Loup how is it going? you said you were working on yours.. any sneak peaks????

I'm not close to you, but I don't mind binding at all. If I'm watching TV at night, I'm doing binding too! How are you at paper piecing those pineapple blocks???

Jaba, I've never tried the pineapple blocks before, but when I get back after Christmas I'll try it and see! That might just be my next set of placemats! When we're watching TV, my boyfriend always likes it dark (and there's nowhere for a lamp by the couch because it's in the middle of the room, the only place it'll fit in this living room) so I can't work on anything else. I usually do my binding on the machine, but no matter how perfectly I line up front and back when I've turned it to the front, it's always off on the back on at least part of it. I'm not sure I have the patience to sit and bind by hand without something else going on. I usually listen to either podcasts of books or my DJ friend's online channel while I sew or do handwork.
