I decided on the length and width I needed for the border, then cut a piece of freezer paper the correct length double width (this will give you 2 patterns opposite each other), folded it in half lengthwise so I could draw my curve so that it was the same on both sides of the fold. With right side up I cut out the shape out of fabric. Decide which color is going to be which pattern piece. So if the center curve is a hill all the center hills get cut out of one color of fabric, if a valley all the other color fabric is used for the valleys. This way will give you the frame type look. I made a drunkards path type square for the corner stones to join them.

When I said double width I mean the width you want the whole border (both fabrics)

Thanks Kass. Then do you just sew the brown and white pieces together? Or is the brown applique don the white?

I sewed them together curved piecing, but since you are quite the applique'er it could easily be done that way as well. You would only need to cut one color curved that way the background color would be left straight.

Kass, again, I humbly bow before true talent. I count myself as proud to have such a talented friend.

Pam- I love your quilt. Well done. I see my block in there too.

Sewbiz- gorgeous dresses and granddaughters. Lucky little girls to have their own seamstress.

Janice - we're all waiting to hear that you've become a Granny! I'll probably be able to hear you shouting all the way up here in NC. LOL

I've been busy with Christmas baking and candy making so far. I think I have all my shopping done and over with for this year. I went to a Grinch Party last night and had an absolute ball. Lots of fun, green colored Grinch snacks and games. This was our third annual one. I'm already looking forward to next year's party. What are you guys up to for Christmas?
