Good question, Cro. Here's a pic of what would probably work well even though the picture is not of the D4P pattern:

This was a quilt I had hanging in my quilt guilds' quilt show last September. The Asian prints are small to medium scale. While I love the large scale prints, I'm not so sure they would do well in a D4P pattern. You'd lose too much of the print, I think. PS - -- the name of that pattern is 2 Cute by Karen Cunagin.

Really like how this version of the block comes out!
Only problem is mine are 10" instead of 9-1/2".
What is the finished width of the diagonal strip?
If mine is ok then I can just trim them to 9-1/2", but if that is wrong then they won't match up with everyone else's.

CRO check out my album I just made with samples of Asian fabric for you to look at their are 6 different ones. I just had a round robin that I started with a Japanese panel for the center told them to keep with theme and use colors in panel. Hope this helps you
