Secret Partner Pin Cushion/Needlecase Swap
#701
Nancia and Louise, Getting amusement out of these posts (considering the fact you were my swap partners for pin cushions and needlecase). Thinking of the "small world" ties between us! Louise I am originally from Denver (near valley highway and Hampden), and Nancia, I have 4 cockatiels! Seems we could have a pleasant time together over a cup of coffee if we were neighbors!

I am about 1.5 to 2 miles south of Federal Blvd & Hampden.
"Valley Highway" is now known as Interstate 25. For you to call it
by the old name tells me it has been MANY years since you lived in
the Denver area.
I have been back in Colorado since Aug 1998, and sometimes (quite
often actually) miss living in NC. I hope to someday get the chance to
go back for a visit.
Yes I think we could have lots of fun over coffee to bad you are not closer
really wish I had friends close by who has a common interest with me and
wouldn't think I am some "wacky" old woman who likes to quilt and collect
fabric (even the the wacky part is true the "old" part is a matter of you ask
I will be 49 in about 4 weeks).

To my secret pals waiting for needle cases... they went out today. Unfortunately, life has threw my family a curve ball. On Monday, my 23 year old nephew Brennen went ot the holspital not feeling well. It was determined he had pnemonia. He passed away on Wednesday. It is so rough. On top of that great loss, my eldes graduates from the University of Southern California on Friday. Trying to switch emotions is difficult. Not much to say as I am still an emotional mess. Please keep us in your prayers.

Today I received my needlecase and goodies, all the way from Ireland. I don't kno her board name, and there seems to be several Linda C's listed so I don't know which one was my secret swapper. Thank you so much, it will be well used. Love the goodies too.
Hugs
Jean

hav4boys-- my heart breaks for you and your family. such a horrible loss. love and prayers to you all.
i know you are proud of your son, and for good reason. congratulations to him for a job well done.
dogsgod and quilty-louise-- i'm sure we would have lively conversations and probably not get much sewing done! i have made a dear friend here who only lives 1.5 hrs away, and we have a blast together! this board provides a needed connection for all of us. i don't remember how i found my way here but i'm so glad i did and so happy to have found friends!!
i must confess that my forays into bird pets proved to be very expensive snack times for my dogs and cats. kate (cat) and dooley (dog) worked in tandem to dislodge a birdcage with two peach-faced love birds. they took no prisoners. it convinced me to stay with pets that were not in such close order in the food chain. this was before i discovered that dooley, as a cocker spaniel, had the skill to jump up and catch low flying birds. i'm not convinced he knew he wasn't a cat. he came to us at 4 weeks old, so other than people, his only models were cats. he had a lovely contented purr.

Nanci,
I totally understand i have 4 cats and I KNOW at least 3 of them would stop
at nothing to get an extra "cat snack".
However I just found out last week that my husband used to have a cockatiel
many years ago (long before we met). I only discovered this when I asked if he
wanted to go to the bird expo with me (this was before mom passed that same
weekend).
I think sticking with "bird" fabrics is a MUCH safer hobby for me and much cleaner
since my cats can't have a snack and make a mess of feathers.
But I do love looking at them.

hav4boys, I am so sorry to hear of your nephews passing. My sister was in the hospital a second time due to pnuemonia. I don't know what it is this past year about the severity of pnuemonia cases. I am so happy to hear of your son's achievements. Please take care, and know that you and your family are in my prayers.
