Default How big should I make table

    Hi everyone
Have been thinking about making a table for my sewing machine to sit in .
I know my machine will be level with the table but i,m not sure how big to make the table.
    The top piece is cut from a 4ft X 8ft and i,m not sure if a 4 x 8 table is to big .Or I could make it like 4 x 6 ft .
Is a 4 x 6 ft table as big as I will need.
Or do as they say go big or go home.

    Thanks
    Tom

I have a big sewing table. It carries the weight when sewing something big or hold a extra cutting mat when piecing. Also you can move your machine and baste on it if needed.

Think of the table size for multi tasking. I think mine is 4" x 6".

I would make mine as big as I could fit in the room where it will reside. As Crqlter and ManiacQuilter2 said, you can use the table for a multitude of tasks that way... cutting area, auditioning fabrics for a quilt, basting, etc. If that will be too large for the room and make getting around it difficult, I would do the smaller one.

Mine is 9 feet by 9 feet, the biggest I could fit into my basement sewing area.

I would, with a side table (2'-3' by 4') butted up against it on the left hand side to hold a quilt as I am quilting it.

I agree go big or go home. if you make it big and don't like it you can cut it down later. but hard to make it bigger if you start out small

I would make it the largest size your room will take. If you find it too large you can make it smaller but difficult to add on.
