    That's what I'd do. Didn't realize that you shouldn't tie a baby quilt. If you can't tie it, stitch in the ditch or a crosshatch would probably be the easiest.

    Being fairly new to quilting -- I have a question. What is "birthing". I am sure I should know this but right now have no idea what it is.

    Just saw an update and now I know. I have done this before but did not know it had a name. LOL

    Fleece has none of the ticky rules about how far apart to quilt it (I have a well used quilt with fleece backing that is quilted about every 10-12") so I'd say birth it then quilt it enough to hold the layers together and call it a day.

    I would recommend this too, as you don't want little strings to get caught up in a baby's fingers or mouth when tying. Great job on it.

    Depends of how big it is. it is much harder to get the exact size for the backing when you birth it. The when you quilt you have areas of "pushed" fabric. Sometimes not a pretty sight. Tying allows you to spread out evenly any differences. And fless stuff like Minkie can stretch
