WOW you have been busy. Great looking quilts, but I bet your scraps didn't go down very much. Mine never do.

Great scrappies and I'm sure the stash is going down. I'm also working on my stash and yes it is fun to be creative with what we have- after all that is how quilting began - using what we have and we certainly have much more to work with than our pioneer ladies before us.

I look with admiration at the scrap quilts on the board but I always wonder how do you know what to make out of the scraps. I can only make a quilt from a pattern, I guess because I am pretty much self and internet taught. If you have scraps and I do, and I cut those scraps into pieces how will I know that I will have enough for a certain project?

It's called "making it up as you go along"...Sometimes I'll just pull scraps in a color wave, put likes together in panels, use borders around panels to put together & just go for it! That's what I did with that last one. I had some 1/2 sq triangles, put them together, used charms to finish the quilt. See the border piece I had to use around the center to make the charms fit around it? Just grab your scraps & start. Mostly I make 2 quilts at once, as I use the leader/ender method as I sew. Before you know it, you have 2 quilts! I'm working on Judy's MT#12 right now & the leader/ender quilt is one of the kits I cut out so it will be finished right along Judy's. That one will be donated & I am keeping Judy's for a future great grandchild cuz it's so different. Gotta put some of our work away for the "future's" just in case can no longer quilt. Getting up there in age!

Very nice, a great use of scraps! I am sure they were greatly appreciated.

It can be fun shopping at home. Because of various reasons and the way the closet door opens, I have not seen the inside of my closet in at least two years or more. I know I have a tote full of batiks and who knows what else. Whenever I try to organize my stash, I can usually find a "surprise" or two and I'll go, I didn't remember this fabric. Part of the surprise is because when we downsized from a 3 bedroom house, where I had 2 sewing areas, one upstairs for winter and one downstairs in the basement where it was cooler during summer months; my DH and DS decided that I needed to get rid of ALL my fabric. No way Jose. Thanks to a dear friend who stood by me when I was purging, I was able to keep half my fabric. I should add that at least 2-3 totes of fabrics were from my sister's stash when she passed away. I'm working on getting that stash down so I can buy more fabric, of course. LOL.
