    Default Baby "Bugs"
    I have been working with my new machine on satin stitching...These are perfect yet...but I am getting better...wish I knew more satin stitch "secrets"....any suggestions for books on how to do a better job???[ATTACH=CONFIG]533863[/ATTACH]

    Very cute! Use a stabilizer on the back to prevent tunneling if it's a dense satin stitch. It also helps prevent puckers on the background fabric. If you machine has needle down option, use it. An open toe or appliqué foot is helpful for visibility.

    When going around an outer curve stop with needle down off the appliqué, lift the pressure foot and turn the fabric

    my only advice is don't do it! I decided mine was never going to be good enough so I just use a small pretty tight zigzag but not satin, good luck.

    You made a VERY cute quilt. Yes, using stabilizers and practice does make perfect. I switch to appliquéing using the buttonhole stitch. Much easier.

    That is such a cute quilt. I haven't done satin stitch so don't have any advice for you. Good job.
