I LOVE grandmas's quilt! Did you do the panels with embroidery on your machine? I love that you did a neat pattern with the tying also.

Everything done on Grandma's quilt was done by hand. In fact, the sashings or whatever you call the strips that divide the squares were added after the top was almost done. We didn't put it in at the beginning but I finally convinced mom that it needed something so I cut them out and they are actually hand appliqued on top.

The African quilt is all done by machine. I changed up the stitches a little bit on that one because I was experimenting with the new machine to see what it could do. :)

Here is another cheater cloth that I got off of Ebay. It is a fleece fabric. I bought two of them and gave them to my two graduate assistants in my office. They were identical. I originally had only bought one but when the other one saw me working on it they raved so much about it I lucked out and managed to get a second one. If either one saw me working on it, I just told them it was for the other women they shared the office with. :) It's all hand sewn. I also stitched around the figures to make them stand out a bit more. When it came to gift giving, the two women debated for over 10 minutes about which package they wanted for themselves. I had them wrapped up in heavy dark garbage bag (the only thing I could find that fit) so they couldn't see what it was. They were both surprised when they found out they each got one.

Thanks everybody. Here is a pix of yet another cheaters cloth that I did for my sister. She died from cancer and never got to see it except when I worked on it in front of her but when I finished it, I gave it to her son who has five kids--one of which she never got a chance to meet (3 girls, 2 boys). Once again it's all hand sewn (didn't have a sewing machine until December 2009) and I stitched around the angel and the border, etc.
