Several of you sent me a PM requesting to know how I assembled this one. I really should take better notes when I do these things, but here goes. Note: I have already given this quilt to the charity, so don't have it any more--am going off a few scratchings and memory. Please make a trial run block to be sure these measurements work!! I used fabrics from my stash, so do not have fabric requirements, but it wasn't much--obviously the white was the most and I think it was about 1 1/2 yards of white, and only 1/4 yard or less of 8 different colors. You can use more or fewer colors as you desire. I think each block finished/trimmed to 11 1/4" square, so the finished quilt ended up being about 34" by 45".

The quilt was assembled with 12 blocks. Each block started with a center 5 1/2" square of a bright. All the rest of the quilt was made using strips of white and brights 1 1/2" wide, finishing at 1" wide on the quilt.

I didn't want to deal with individual 1 1/2" squares, so I decided to make two sizes of WOF strip sets, crosscut to make the alternating white/bright squares around the center square.

The first strip set was made of five strips 1 1/2" x WOF strips--three different brights and two white strips. Sew this five strip set together in the order of bright-white-bright-white-bright. It is very important to start and end with a bright color. I then cross-cut this five strip set into 1 1/2" pieces, I think I got about 24-26 cross cut pieces, each measures 1 1/2"x 5 1/2". Sew one of these pieces to two opposing sides of the center square.

Now you need to make the strip set for the top and the bottom of the block. This strip set used ELEVEN strips, each 1 1/2" wide x WOF. Use 6 strips of white and 5 strips of brights. Sew the strips together alternating white and brights, but STARTING and ENDING with a WHITE strip this time. Once you have your eleven strip set sewn together, cross-cut it into 1 1/2" pieces, also getting about 24-26 cross-cut pieces, each measuring 1 1/2" x 11 1/2". Sew one of these to the top and the bottom of your center block unit.

That is it--your block it done. Then just sew the 12 blocks together, in 4 rows of 3 blocks each.

I used 8 colors for the strips--3 for the sides and 5 for the top and bottom strips. Since they were the same, I reversed them on the top and bottom to make the block not so symmetrical. You could use lots more colors if you made shorter strips sets with fat quarters or scraps, just your preference.

I had a couple of the cross-cut white/color strips left over, so I sewed them together and used them on the back piecing, along with a few other scraps.
