Be careful bragging to local quilters. I got some great fabric deals at a local thrift shop until too many others found it. Then they started beating me to the best stuff!

Great find! I shop for fabric at thrift stores all the time.

The fabric section is not the only place to find great bargains though, especially if you are looking for solid colours. Check out the bedding section! Today I bought a dark green, 100% cotton, king size sheet to use as a quilt backing. The cost? $7.99 When I buy sheets for quilting I always check the tag for 100% cotton. I also check for wear. I'm amazed at how many sheets end up in thrift stores with virtually no wear. And because these sheets have been washed many times before, no worries about colourfast. Any excess dye has long since been washed out. (Of course I wash them again anyway.)
