This past year I went to a class on quilting and Arkansas mammals sponsored by Arkansas Game and Fish. I'm no hunter, but I learned a lot about Arkansas wildlife. We are going to have an exhibit in August. Here is my quilt for the exhibit. It has 18 Arkansas mammals hiding in the woods. The fabric has pine bark, moss, pine cones, animal tracks, and dead ferns (I guess they are dead; the fabric is gold). The mammals are:

    1. bear
    2. squirrel
    3. rabbit
    4. nutria
    5. mouse
    6. short-tail shrew
    7. bobcat
    8. coyote
    9. skunk
    10. raccoon
    11. opossum
    12. bat
    13. otter
    14. armadillo
    15. fox
    16. deer
    17. elk
    18. beaver
