I would have asked him " how many quilts have you made?" I bet that would have shut him up.Your quilt is beautiful,a heirloom quilt.Don't let small minded people get to you, you're much better than that. And a very talented, gifted quilter! And here is big HUG for you

Consider yourself hugged!! How sad for that poor man...he must have been thinking back.

Your work is beautiful and something to be proud of.

Maybe he was the one who needed the hug. He may have been recalling times passed or a wife whom he misses. Stop feeling incensed and have a little compassion. Many people manifest fear or depression with grumpiness or anger. Get a thicker skin; the quilt is beautiful. Feel blessed that you can afford to make a quilt with new fabric.

You should have told him that men these days just don't know how to get from one place to another anymore - they drive a car, not a horse and buggy.

You should of told him. Men never use to sit in Dr office
they just went out in the woods and died but due to progress they now live longer and get grumpier by the day.

Your quilt is beautiful, never let some make you feel small
those type people are very unhappy and wish to spread it around. You did such a wonderful job on the quilt I only wish I had your talent.

Beautiful!! Some people just have to pass opinions & they don't think before speaking!! You did the right thing. Some comments do not deserve an answer!!!!

Oh, my goodness, what a beautiful quilt. Just a dotty old man who remembers his mom from long ago. Don't pay any attention. Just think in many years if you have a son he may be telling people exactly how your made your quilts and it is the only way!

Your quilt is beautiful! Don't pay any attention to him. Too bad you didn't have a policeman's badge in your purse. You could have given it to him as being a member of the quilt police.
