Default Just playing around with shadowing

I wanted to try different shadowing and background colors. Smaller pieces are always a good idea for craft shows too. These take little time to put together, but of course then comes the layering, quilting and binding.

I find I like the shadow on the left side better. And I love the look of the disconnected shadow a lot better--where the ends are not angled--just straight. I didn't think I'd have an option either way, but I do. :-)

I agree with you!! The floating look of the block some how appeals to me more. I'm in the process of completing a quilt using this technique, but life and other projects keep pushing it to the back of the pile.

I'm so glad you posted this – I've never looked at both ways side by side. Very interesting!

I like the first one. It has a "floating above" effect.

I prefer the last two which look like whole blocks.

And especially good for the water--lake idea. :-)
