One more thing, Don't cut the squares before you do the embroidery. I found that I could save a lot more fabric by cutting after I did it so I could use the block beside it to help hold it in place while embroidering. I hope I said that right. Just be sure you measure the distance between the blocks right. I screwed up the first one I did but then again I'm still learning. I told my hubbie he could use it for a jacket patch. LOL

Boyee! It is a "Crappie" Quilt. I love it, especially the part with the two fish and the shoe. It's beautiful. Very unique!

A walking foot really isn't suitable to free motion quilting. The walking foot has two "feet/prongs" that keep the fabric always stabilized between the foot and feed dogs.
In order to Free motion quilt, it is best to purchase a darning/embroidery foot that fits your machine (very inexpensive), drop your feed dogs, make sure you lower the foot down, even though it doesn't actually touch the fabric. <wave>

Guess what I bought at Walmart? A whole bolt of fabric that is green underwater like with fish. It is Cranston VIP. I am going to use it to back my fish quilt. Will post a picture later. Isn't that neat.
