I am getting ready to make 12 blocks of the Maple Leaf from the quilterscache.com site.

I wonder if it would be a good idea to do the stems on the leaves differently than how she shows them. Do you think it would look okay if I just did a satin stitch in the color of the fabric in each block?

Please take a little look and tell me what you think.

I think a satin stitch would be fine, but I would do something darker than the background fabric, just to make sure they stand out.
I bet this will be pretty!

Oh, I think you mean use the color in the leaves as the satin stitch... I think that would look nice!

I think your idea would give your quilt more interest.

What about doing a bias tape, then you can curve it? A quick top stitch down each side, you could even to that in a decorative stitch, adding even more interest.

Making your own bias tape is super simple!
