2007 was perhaps my most productive sewing year to date. I had a 'near life ending' health scare in March and after a week in the hospital, at least 4 weeks rcuperating at home, I got busy sewing and couldn't seem to stop. These pictures represent some of the results.

A little history to the first two pictures: My mother hand sewed these Grandmother's Flower Garden blocks when she was 16 or in 1929. They were not the best of work, but they must have meant a great deal to her because she hung onto them through at 8-10 household moves, including considerable downsizing. In order to give a usable quilt to each of my DDs and to have one for myself, I came up with this layout to try to honor her blocks.

Made about a dozen of these guys

I made 5 flannel quillows for family and friends

    I call these "Heritage Garden"

Beautiful projects. Your grandmother's quilt blocks are a wonderful legacy. Seems you've done a tremendous job in completing her project.

Very nice. I love the snowmen. Do you have a pattern for them?

I love hearing these stories of quilts that have been made by mothers and grandmothers and even great grandmothers. The history behind these older quilts is just lovely to know, to cherish and to pass on. Not to mention how wonderful they look. This quilt must give you so much pleasure. You did a lovely job of finishing it.

Wonderful items! I love that you were able to share your mother's legacy with your daughters. And the snowmen are simply delightful!
