My sister-in-law began this quilt when she was in her 30's, but never got beyond cutting out most of the pieces and making about half of the blocks. She used cardboard templates and a pencil to trace them on the back of her fabric. She gave it to me years ago, but I did not even think about it until after i retired and got a new machine. She lived to be 92 but never saw it finished. Several years ago I put it together but I thought it deserved a better finish than I could give, so I donated the top to the Mennonite Relief in Kidron, Ohio. It took them 2 years and 3 different quilting groups to finish it, but I was very happy to see it sold for 375 dollars! I know that my sister-in-law would be happy too.

It's lovely and what a wonderful story to go with it.

They did a great job - all that quilting on both sides of the seams. I'm glad you finished it for your sister.

What a beautiful quilt! I think I would have kept it and finished it myself, it would have been a nice heirloom quilt! I'm glad that it brought so much money!!
