Just jump right in and try a pattern. That's what I do. Sometimes I end up just doing one block. I guess I like the challenge of seeing how it's put together. haha I still have no idea about the quilting part. That's something I don't enjoy at all, but I still call myself a quilter.

You are so right about giving it a go. Now that I am retired and have more time I will give myself the challenge to make a NYB block and I will let you know the results.
