My grandmother (who died last year at age 102) made this quilt in 1934. Strangely (at least in my mind)...every single block has a family members name with the date 1934...I would have put their birth date in each block. Anyway....does anyone know what the name of these blocks are?

I don't know the name, but it's beautiful. Clever fabric placement.

It is likely that these are signatures blocks that were gifted to her in 1934 and assembled into a quilt. Was she married that year?

I'm not sure what year she married in. There is no one left to ask. My mom passed away last year too. My grandmother had 13 brothers and sisters and she was the baby. They are all gone. My mother was an only child.

I think the names look like they weren't all done by the same person. There is probably a great story behind this quilt and some significance to the date. It would be great if you could find some information from family papers.

Looks like you have a fantastic genealogy project right in hand! What fun it would be to find out the missing info! For example, dates of birth, her marriage date, etc. It's a wonderful treasure!!! :D
