Scrappy #4 - Strip scraps
This is the year I am tackling all those scraps I’ve cut up over the past few years. This month, I focused on the misc. scraps of strips.
This is what I came up with for those strips. In 2016, as a new quilter, I stumbled on this Canadian blogger site and absolutely loved her quilt. She gave the free FPP pdf so I printed it out and filed it. I didn’t have scraps at the time but I figured, one day, I’d collect enough strip scraps to give this a try. Her pattern is called Eastern Sunrise designed by Happy Turtle. She no longer posts on her blog but it is still up. However, her FPP for the pdf link is defunct. If you look on her archives for 2016 finishes, you’ll see the completed quilt. She used white background and it’s bright and colorful, which is what appealed to me, of course. Strip sizes varied from 1 1/2 - 2 1/2”. The blocks are 7 1/2 finished…there are 72 blocks. Took forever….The lighting is bad for pictures…my background is medium chambray. There is no black, brown, tan, or cream. I made a huge dent in my strip scraps. Yea!

I made a table runner using this pattern. I couldn't envision a quilt made with this pattern. But now that I can see it, I think another is on my list of "get it done" quilts. Heaven knows I have the scraps to make it!!

Your choice of the denim color or is it called chambray as your neutral. I tried to download the pattern, but I got an Access Denied message.. Oh well, I have several hundred other patterns to choose from to use up my scraps. Tee-Hee-Hee!

Beautiful use of scraps. I'm finishing up Hearts of Hope from Bonnie Hunter. Lots of strip piecing in that quilt too.....almost done.
You always do a lovely job of color selection in all your quilts, even this scrappy one.

I just love your quilt! Thanks for the link to the blog. However, I got the same denial as WMU Teach so I requested it. We will see. Again a great job you've done and no reason you liked it. Hers is pretty, too. My husband would like your chambray the best as he says too many quilts have too much white.

I liked the denim/chambray as the neutral also.
