All this talk of copyrighted patterns and designers and asking permission to show a quilt...
Ok, granted these are run-of-the-mill quilts - nothing fancy or majorly eye-catching, but the point I'm trying to make is: DESIGN YOUR OWN! Then you don't have to worry about asking anybody anything and you saved a bunch of money.
This is a french braid quilt - make however many 'braids' you want, how long you want, and then figure out how many sashings you want and put it together:

This is a block of the month we did at Guild, public domain blocks, our teacher showed us how to do each block and each person put the resulting quilt together however we wanted. We used whatever fabrics we wanted, etc:

This is a lap quilt that I totally made up as I went along - it was a lot of fun:

And yet another that I made up as I went along:

Are these boring? I don't think so. Ugly? I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder - I love them! LOL

And guess what else - if you want to make one like any of them, BE MY GUEST - there are no instructions, there never were (except for the PD blocks at guild but no instructions on how to put the top together)... have at it!

QUILTING SHOULD BE FUN, relaxing, enjoyable, you shouldn't have to worry about quilt police hanging over your shoulder to see if you, God Forbid, copied something ......

    MOOYMMV

Here's another question I just thought of also then too... why buy a pattern, slavishly buy the 'called for fabric', follow SOMEBODY ELSE'S directions, using THEIR ideas, and make a quilt just like who-knows-how-many others??? I've seen I don't know how many of the kaleidoscope quilts with those weirdo lookin' blocks in them.... what's up with that?

Well done on all of them! I especially like the blue and brown sampler. I do the same thing as you - take a few blocks and figure out placement and sashings and borders.

I love them too. I agree with you, if it pleases you, it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks.

    Good job.

Love all your quilts. I agree wholeheartedly. Even when I get a kit, I change something to make it MINE! I rarely do a pattern exactly as directed. No fun in that :!:

They are all really great!! You have given me the idea I needed for my Blue Extended Star--from Rhonda's Sampler BOW. I seem to have run out of the fabric and need to put borders around each one but did not know what to do. The second quilt is marvelous. :P
