I looked at this site & saw the blocks up close. Even funnier. You would have to be older to remember some of these things. I think this was created in the 70's.

Thanks so much for posting that. I'd forgotten what some of the blocks represented.
Brought big smiles to my face

Fabulously gruesome and disturbed ... I can't pick a favorite square, though Sue in the belly of the snake may be it.

Here's a link to some Bad Sue blocks. The Jerry Springer block is on page 3 in the 'untitled' album.

Just think of the possiblities. Sue goes world wide. You could put Sue in the bible.& illustrate verses. Tons of diferent things. Sue goes Goth or punk. Dumb Hollywood Blond or spoiled rotten drunk movie star in jail. The possiblities are endless. I know I have a wild, crazy imagination.

That is just too much. It is disturbingly funny. Reminds me of all they ways they kill Kenny on South Park.

Thanks LaurieE, that's a fun site. The Jerry Springer block I remember is part of a whole story of Sue's (sad) life - I think some of the blocks were she gets pregnant, marries a bum, lives in a terrible place, her husband cheats, eventually she goes on JS show and is fighting with her husband's girlfriend. The whole thing is in terrible taste and at the show where I saw it you had to wait to get near it,arguably the most popular quilt in the show.

Love her or not (and I do), Sue has shown remarkable staying power in a world filled with instant "stars" known only for their roles in scandals. Pick up a newspaper and, leaving out legitimate newsmakers, see who you think will still be around next year. Sue made it on her own and will be enjoyed long after we're all gone.
