    Did you open all the ties and cut out the quilt pieces are just use the tie as it was and sew them together. I am new to quilting so hope this isn't too dumb a question. It is really gorgeous and you did a fabulous job on it. Thanks for sharing it.

    The pattern is from a book by Fons and Porter. "Quick Quilts from the Heart." The pattern itself is called fancy fans.

    When I did mine I opened all the ties after washing. Removed the lining and used the small ends of the ties.
    There is a template in the book to use as a pattern for cutting the ties.

    Yours is the best tie quilt I've ever seen, absolutely gorgeous! I've got many, many hundreds of ties ready for a project like this. I can see I'll have to make a king size quilt out of what I have. I love the border, too -- you used up all the tie that way. I'd like to incorporate some of the tags, too. Have to give that some thought as to where I'll put those....
