Terry, I'm very sorry to hear about your friend. I wish we could have seen that special quilt.

This is what my quilt will look like. It was so exciting to finally start putting pieces on the wall! I'm thrilled with it, even though I don't love the effect the heavier gold has on the pattern. I think the on-point black grid will still be obvious. I was going to make the 4-patch centers, to compare with these, but these seem to have good movement, so I think I will just proceed as is.

My shoulders slumped every time I thought of doing the full size, so my plan is to go with the 4x4. My sewing room is very small, so it was hard to get far enough away to get all of the blocks in the photo. Bottom photo shows the backing fabric I bought, which I'm not totally loving compared to others I've seen. I'm thinking I will piece something simple to bring in some pink and gold, so the effect isn't so overwhelmingly blue-green-y.

JM: Great job, bet it feels good to see the pattern appear. Like your choice of backing. Part of the fun of viewing everyone's quilts is the choice of backing. Congrats on your progress!

Looking good everyone! joe'smom... I don't think you could find a more perfect backing fabric... it's lovely and draws in the checkerboard colours.

hi, finally got the last borders on and took a picture :-). Did the quarter size, and since I didn't have enough border units to go right round, so just added them top and bottom to lengthen the top just a tad. Quite pleased with the end result .

Siodach, love your celtic name. I think your quilt is lovely and love your idea of lengthening as I am doing the same size.

It's fresh off the quilting frame. Used the pantograph "Field of Flowers" by Keryn Emerson Now to get it bound this afternoon (picked one of the aquas) after I take it to my long arm group to share. Almost there! Then it's off to it's new home in Iowa w/my Mom
