    It's actually raw edge appliqué. I had done the centers plain pink, then saw a version with the square-in-square and decided to add the blue. The bright yellow in the 4-patches was too much for me. I also don't know if I'll use the green checked sashing. I like it in other quilts I've seen but not when I see mine on the design wall.

    Here are two other options I found for backing at Joann. Any comments? Preferences? Thanks!

    I love them both but I think the pirate one has more pizazz but it is who it is for would be the deciding factor!

    Julie: I like the owl one the best, I think the lighter background is more in keeping with the "feel" of the quilt. Whichever you choose both will work well, just my opinion.

    I'm not a huge fan of sculls so I would choose the owls. The colors of both match really well, though.

    I love the owls! I'm not a big fan of 'Day of the Dead' stuff, tho the colors are a match.
