    Default Not allowed to purchase

...that's what came on the screen this morning as I was checking out at my local Walmart. It was a jar of pork gravy by Heinz....have bought it before. Cashier called supervisor, she went to shelf and pulled all that were there and replaced mine with a dry mix. Never in all the years, places, I have shopped at have I ever encountered this. So, I asked and was told it is a mfgr recall of the product and employee at store failed to pull all from shelf (4) were there. They did not know why the recall, but I thanked them for their vigilance.....
I'm breaking from the norm tomorrow and doing a crown roast instead of turkey...reason I needed pork gravy..(I'm not good at making from scratch). So at least I know no one will get "sick" from something at the table......hope not anyway!

    Happy Thanksgiving!

update...I just went to Heinz website and recall is due to mislabeling some pork gravy jars whereas s/b au jus...well at least it's not due to being tainted

Thank you for the alert. Just bought the turkey gravy, it is ok. Heinz does do a good job with the gravies.

I had this happen to me this past summer but it was for a pair of blue jeans. I have no idea why a pair of jeans was on the recall list, grand daughter was really disappointed, but at least it wasn't a major headache down the road. This was also at a Wal-Mart, must be something new on their part.

That happened to me about a year ago when I needed a box of Carol Shelby chili mix. Shelf was completely bare, asked the store mgr. when more would be in, and was told that there had been a recall on the mix, due to a problem with finding some kind of foreign object in a batch. So until all the machinery at their plant has been thoroughly inspected, all products had been recalled. None had gotten out to the public, it was caught in a quality control check at the plant.

The recall was on our news a few days back. It was something about a mix up with Heinz Pork and Au Jus gravies, packaging or something like that. In other words, ingredients might have been wrong as Au Jus may have been in pork jars. Would have only been bad had someone been allergic to the ingredients in Au Jus.
