    you can also do this with layers of the same fabric and same design; layer them with the design on top of each other as you did. when you cut the material you'll see the design. i have it with the panda bear and it is very pretty

    Thanks for the great tute...I'm going to try it....but just to make sure I understood correctly...you cut through the top four layers which would have taken you down to the heart and you did cut through that one? ....and left the pink and purple layers uncut? thanks again...very concise and understandable...

    I love the idea of doing a rug this way - I'm going to try one for my son's bedroom. The question will be - will he leave it on the floor or decide to snuggle with it instead?

    I cut throughout the purple, 2 pinks and the layer with the heart.
