When I sew "pedal to the metal" fast on the FW my bobbin thread is popping out of the little fork area of the bobbin case spring. I would think the screw might need to be tightened a smidgeon. I don't want to mess with it until I have some input, though. It is fine if I sew slow-medium speed.

Sheri, I adjust the bobbin case on my long arm aLOT. I would suggest just adjusting it a quarter turn and then testing on a scrap. If it does not work, or you get nastier tension, adjust it back. Just keep track of how much you turned the screw so you can put it back if you want.

Someone told me once to mark where the current setting is on the bobbin screw so that if you want to put it back where it was, you can do it. I thought that was a good idea and made it not so scary to do some adjusting. Don't know if turning it will correct your problem but it's worth a try.

Just asking, but do you have the bobbin in the case correctly? They are directional, meaning they need to rotate a specific direction.

Thanks for checking, Joe. I do have it in correctly... I have been sewing with this FW for about 20 years. This is a new issue.

I will mark the case before I turn the screw.

Before changing things check carefully for lint and thread bits in the bobbin case and under the tension spring. If it was working right, then changed that makes me think debris might have entered into the picture.
