Default Frister and Rossmann HC with broken thread take up lever

I was cleaning on the Fand R I brought back from TX trip and found the take up lever was broken. I suspect this when the guy carrying it up to counter and the lid slipped. So what do. I had a broken slide plate from a machine that had been replace with a new one. Took the broken lever as a pattern got out the dremel with lots of cut off wheels and cut a new lever out. Then took the grinding wheel and did the final shaping. It fits perfectly and works fine. Now that is fits will have to polish all the grinding marks out and make it shine. This F&R is a clone of the Singer 12 and the shuttle are almost identical.

I know a couple old ladies that need slide plates....
I bet you were ready to wring that guy's neck when he broke that - did he give you a better deal or did you not see it until you got it home?

No I did not know it was broke until I got it home and played with it. I was very upset.

    Wow, nice fix, Uncle Skip!

I am wondering if it also would have worked to solder or weld (not sure what metal) the old one back together?

Anyhow, I am very impressed with the new one you made! Looks really good.
