Good tension suddenly go wonky????
Check your bobbin before changing your settings.
I finished the straight stitching on the T-Bears banner with the HOTHER, then set up the Alden to do the ZZ around the edges. I had three bobbins with the last of the green thread that matched the banner and was down to one partial and one full bobbin. The full one was a new looking shiny metal Class 15 bobbin.
Put that in and started sewing. Made maybe 10" when suddenly the green bobbin thread started pulling through to the top and meeting in the middle with the top thread just a single strand. Neither of us could figure it out. I re-threaded the top, didn't help. I took the bobbin out, checked it, put it back, didn't help.
Then I decided to try the other bobbin. Just to say I did. Worked perfectly. Hmmmm, it was then I noticed a tiny arched cut in one rim of the full bobbin. Small enough to not see if you didn't look close. So I transferred the thread to a different metal bobbin and when the one in the machine ran out I put the re-threaded bobbin in.
Problem solved. Some how that tiny little cut was causing the bobbin to mess up and the tension to go out the window.
My wife asked where we got it? I told her I had no idea but it might have been from the plastic boxes of Dritz bobbins we got at Joann's. Junk, most of them.
Check your bobbins for run out and damage, no sense in taking chances with them. And only buy from sources that sell quality bobbins.

Joe, I got a bunch of metal 15 bobbins from somewhere...don't remember where...but when I recently took them out to try to use, I noticed a whole lot of sharp weird cuts and odd pieces of metal sticking on the sides of the bobbins. They are pretty worthless, and I'll be going through the box and throwing most of them away.

I bought a package of bobbins for the FW from JoAnns 'cause I only had 1 with the machine. None of the JoAnns bobbins work well. I don't see any knicks or odd issues but the FW just doesn't like them. So, I agree. You have to be careful with the newer ones.
