I have a Minnesota A treadle sewing machine my parents gave me. I am interested in finding a book for it and also history of possible age etc.

I don’t know how to show a picture on here. I am new to site. The number on the plate is : D3511447 if that would mean anything.

Welcome to the obsession erm... I mean forum! and congrats on your vintage machine. Minnesotas are reliable and good sew-ers.

Your Minnesota A was a mainstay of the Sears Catalog in the first 1/3 of the 20th century. Early models were made by Davis, but White and I think Domestic also made later ones. I don't know about the serial number. We have some real experts here who will see this thread shortly, I suspect.

You can post pictures if they are small (600 x 800 pixels max) by clicking the little framed picture of the tree on the reply toolbar and following the instructions in the dialog box.

As for posting pictures, there are lots of threads here about how to post pictures. One thing to remember is that generally the pictures need to be resized smaller to post here. One thread is White Rotary - at post #8 has some links on how to post images and how I resize.

The Minnesota machines were sold by Sears and were made by different manufactures - so a picture would help identify. As far as how old it might be, it would be an approximation based on who actually made your machine and maybe some other factors.
