This weekend I played with my Industrial 31-20 Singer. and was happy with it. Then I acquired a Pfaff 30 and tinkered on it till it loosened up and started stitching. My GF called from the other room. The clutch on her ( my?) rocketeer wasn't disengaging. I pulled out my screwdriver and she said. "If you aren't sure, don't mess it up." So we grabbed another rocketeer out of a cabinet, dropped it into the cabinet in the sewing room and off she went. It took a while to get the clutch to be happy and so then it got placed in the cabinet that had held the other 500. I guess we have a plethora of them.

Luxurious selection of machines! I haven't seen a 30 close up yet, but it looks sturdier and heavier the average Singer straight stitch models? I don't have that much space, but I still look for an early type cast iron zigzagger. It's slightly mad but I like the look of them, and the solid durable build is what I regard the most. It has to be Bernina or one of the prewar German brands.

There are a few that get away, sadly. I did think it was funny that when I hadn't discovered the bobbin/bobbin case for the 30, I borrowed one from a newer Pfaff that happened to be at work. But it didn't fit. And work has nothing to do with sewing.
