I was just studing the front of your machine and I see a level that goes from M------A. Can you tell me what me this for? I have an "American Beauty" badged machine that has a level on the top M-------B don't know what it does/what its for? Or show a copy of that page of manual. I don't have a manual for mine. Thank you

    M-manual sewing
    A-automatic sewing

...manual being the usual sewing and zig zag sewing and automatic sewing when you are using one of the cams

...not sure what "B" means on your machine - does it have cams with it?

On mine no cams and no place for cams. Mine is a deluxe zigzag, built in buttonholer though. So maybe manual----buttonholer?

That must be it - the buttonhole feature is somewhat automatic if it is built in so that would be what the "B" is for.

...have you tried out the buttonholer?

...and would love to see a pic of your machine!

just found this page with a variety of "American Beauties"

That is absolutely gorgeous! I really want to see a picture of it lit up after you get the new light bulb. And that is a button sewing on foot. Remember to drop the feed dogs, lol.

Wow! Birdie is an absolute beauty. And with all her bits and bobs! Grab a bolt from Perth fabrics and give her a workout. There is a 301 singer that looks like she's in beautiful condition listed on kijjijji for 50$ in cabinet, black in Perth. Not that you are interested but if you have like minded friends... Thanks for sharing, would love to see here lit up.
